Maurey’s letter to Mama

Dear Mama,

In my 56 years I have not said “I Love You” a lot. Neither of us said it very much when I was young that I remember. I knew you loved me because you accepted me at 6 weeks as a foster child as is (long story). These are some of the sacrifices of how you showed your love to me.

We went to Galveston 8 years in a row on a Greyhound Bus for the surgeries on my face. This was during your only 2-week vacation at your day care job.

Then you waited 8 years for the adoption to be approved because you were single in the 60’s wanting to adopt.

There were many more sacrifices but if I listed them this entire letter would be too long.

Now we only say I love you in greeting cards or when we separate (going on trips). I know you love me Mama, your memory is starting to fade and I hope you will never forget how much I love you, Mama.
